Have you ever wondered how those Hollywood stars all have such perfect smiles? Do you wish that your smile were just a little straighter, whiter, or more symmetrical? Are dental flaws keeping you from the smile you deserve? If you said “yes” to any of these questions, then dental veneers could be the cosmetic treatment that could finally give you the smile you’ve been looking for!
More about Veneers
Dental veneers are extremely thin, tooth-colored shells made from porcelain. The porcelain that our cosmetic dentists use mimics the translucency and appearance of real teeth enamel so that no one will even be able to tell which tooth or teeth are actually veneers.
Each veneer is custom-made to cover the entire front surface of your teeth. Unlike dental crowns, which encapsulate the entire visible portion of a tooth, a veneer is only bonded to the front of your smile, hiding everything from chips and cracks to discolorations and gaps.
What makes veneers so popular is that they can instantly transform your smile while disguising any imperfections you might have. These custom-made shells can immediately alter and improve the color, shape, length, or symmetry of your smile. In some cases, adults who have minor crookedness or alignment issues may also choose to get dental veneers instead of braces to get straighter teeth.
Before veneers can be placed, the first thing our dentist will have to do is prep your tooth or teeth for their new restoration. Our goal is to make sure that the cosmetic dentistry looks and feels as natural as possible. In order to do this, we will need to shave off a very small amount of enamel from your teeth to make room for the veneers. Since traditional porcelain veneers are usually no thicker than 0.5mm, this is about how much enamel we will need to remove from the front of your teeth. Since tooth preparation with veneers is minimal, often times this can be performed without any local anesthesia or numbing gel.
Once the teeth are prepped, we take impressions of them. These impressions are then sent to a dental lab, where they will be used to create veneers that perfectly cover your teeth. Once your veneers are created, you will come back into our office for a final fitting. When we know that you are completely satisfied with your new smile, we will permanently bond each veneer to your teeth. Now you have a new and improved smile for life!
